2 Days - hands on construction. The urban poor designing and building their dwelling, corner shop or push cart make ingenious use of scrapyard materials - corrugated tinsheets, plastic drums, glass bottles, old tyres, salvaged wood, recycled banners. How can an architect/ designer learn from this and evolve it further? What forms, structures and features can we innovate to blend these materials into aesthetic forms that are more durable, comfortable, sustainable and safer?

2 days. A Workshop to change the perception of how Design is to be looked at. Understanding that Design is about process and not just theproduct. Giving more importance to thinking more and designing less. Understanding that great architecture needs a lot of detailing and thought process. The workshop focuses on generating ideas which are not unidirectional. It is an attempt to make students think laterally on aspects of design, construction and design development simultaneously. The students are given an insight on how to approach a design problem as a holistic approach than just going from one module to another. Understanding the importance of concepts, inspiration and evolving better designs for people is also one of the learning outcomes from the workshop. As a part of the exercises the students have a chance to explore design by different approaches. For example: Designing futuristic homes, designing practical solutions, designing using fantasy as a tool, Designing products, furniture items etc. The second half of the workshop will also focus on model making for the designs done.
